Flashlight Show

This is probably a relatively unknown baby game but can really build your baby's visual acuity and cause/effect understanding. Some babies really love this game, others may need to be introduced slowly. You need a dark room and a flashlight.

Enter the already dark room holding your baby and sit on a chair or the floor. Comfort your baby by continually talking to him. Turn on the flashlight with a "Look at the light!" observation. You can slowly (be sure not to move too fast) move the light around, focusing on various objects. Make comments about each object you shine on, ideally some mounted pictures or toys. Like many activities, it helps to keep a similar routine so your baby can anticipate what happens next.

If your baby is afraid of the dark, you can leave the entry door cracked or turn on a dim night light. Obviously, never shine the light in your baby's eyes.
